Trying to gather infon on a Wyoming analope hunt in 2010 and need some help.

What area would you suggest to hunt in  Wyoming?

Where is some good public land to hunt?

Thanks for the help.

call wyoming fish and wildlife and have them put you on the non-res mailing list. they will send you all kinds of info. good public land means harder to draw tags. if you want to hunt the first year, find a rancher that charges a small(usually, relatively speaking) trespass fee in a unit that is mostly private and you will find some units that are 100% draw opportunity. i think wyo will give you landowner info if you ask. the website gives you odds for different units too.
the northern and northeastern part of the state is where the trophy units are but will take you a couple years to draw tags because that is where most of the public land is with goats too.

I talked to Wyoming Fish and Game today, they were real helpful.  I didn't ask about landowner contacts though.  THey said that they will handle the "left-over" tags in a different manner than they have in the past.  Instead of putting them into a "second draw" they will just offer them over the counter for first come first serve. WY keeps 80% of the tags for any given unit for their resident draw, but any that don't get drawn will just go up for sale to the first buyer.  The guy at Fish and Game said that there will probably be some left over tags for good units.
My sister and her husband and I want to go this fall, but they are leaning more towards MT.  Tag is cheaper and won't have to drive so far.  Sounds like WY is the better deal though.  Maybe I'll just buy the preference point this year and hunt it in 2010.
