Hot Springs
« on: July 10, 2015, 05:29:55 AM »
Thinking about checking out some hot springs with my wife in early October, anybody have any recommendations? Preferably a good scenic hike, no more than a few miles. Thanks!

The only ones I've seen that look very appealing are Baker hot springs and Wind river hot springs, I haven't looked much into Idaho or anything, trying to state within the state or at least close to WA

Was just curious as there are Baker Hot Springs, Goldmeyer Hot Springs, Ohanapecosh Hot Springs, Olympic Hot Springs, just to name a few in Wa.

Bagby HS East of Portland was probably the best around years ago. Really cool with old growth cedar log tubs and hot H2O channeled from the springs to each tub by way of wooden limbs carved into half-pipes.   I've heard it has gone downhill - problems with drug use, theft, general stupidity by users.  We used to make trips out through the woods in the middle of the night and have the place to ourselves.

Check Amazon books - search for hot springs.  I got around 5 books shown for NW hot spring/hikes etc.

as I was growing up, my hippie parents took us all over Wa and went to lots of hot springs. I cant recommend Goldmeyer Hotspring enough. The forest is amazing, there is a waterfall in front of you, it will be clean and garbage free.  There may also be nude people so be prepared . Is gorgeous.
Wind river is pretty cool, and Sol-Duc hotsprings is nice as well, when I say Sol-Duc I mean the unimroved spring on the side of the river that you have to hike to. Not the resort you drive to. Seriously, call Goldmeyer and reserve a spot.

Red River Hot Springs near Elk City Idaho. The springs are in need of some upgrades, hippie owned, but the scenery is beautiful in that area.
My wife is picky, but insisted we went there 4 times in a week...
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I remember about 20 years ago there used to be a really cool hot spring right on the river at the ohanapecosh, not the little hot spring that are still there, a big hot tub size on right on the river.  You had to know where it was and hike a tiny bit off trail to find it.  dumb azz people started taking bottles down to it and would leave trash, the forest service decided to blow it up!  Sucks they did that but they didn't want people hurting themselves on broken glass.  When you guys decide to drive farther for a hot spring try, Radium hot springs in Canada.  They have a couple springs up there, one is in town and you pay to enter, the other is free on the side of a flowing river.
“In common with”..... not so much!!
