Yakima or Columbia River???
« on: December 12, 2016, 09:21:28 PM »
Hi Guys,

I've got access to my buddy's Marsh Rat for the rest of the season and am hoping to make a couple runs to the East side of the mountains to chase ducks.

I've seen tons of birds on and around the Yakima river and it's various sloughs/marshes off of I-90 between Cle Elum and Eburg and would like to give it a shot.

I've also heard that hunting the Columbia can be incredible this late in the year.

Any advice on where I should focus my attention?

If you can find some side channels on the yak you can probably find some ducks. The Columbia can be good but a small boat like that you are limited to walk in spots and you have to be careful because it can get deep pretty fast, I'd say the Columbia has more opportunity. If you can scout it the day before drive up along the river and see if you can find where birds are. Then hopefully you can find a way to get a public area where you can access the water publicly, stay safe first of all

Thanks man! I'm thinking the Columbia might be a better bet next year with a bigger boat.

Will try and find some sloughs and marshes off the Yak like you mentioned.
