Anyone hunted idaho 38/39 whitetails
« on: October 24, 2017, 08:11:12 PM »
Going to be in the mountain home area and looks like I can pickup a whitetail tag. Has anyone hunted in those areas? If you could tell me some thoughts on it or some general areas that would be great. By post or pm either way. Last minute deal and not normally my style. So I hope someone might be able to help. Looks like 39 is any weapon 38 is short range which is fine by me.

There are some whitetails around horseshoe bend in 39 but they are primarily on private land. Never seen one in 38 but maybe somewhere around C.J. Strike reservoir or somewhere along the Boise river corridor. I have heard there are some whitetails on the opposite side of the reservoir in unit 41 anyway. Either way pickings are going to be very slim and if you do decide to try remember that unit 38 is short range weapons only.

Thanks for the info. The regular tag is sold out or I would be chasing mule deer instead so just trying to add a little extra to a trip if it works out.

I guess worst case scenario if you can plan a trip to the Palouse or panhandle in November pick up the tag now and maybe you get lucky.
