r-51 poor chambering!
« on: February 14, 2018, 05:50:48 PM »
Out of 500 or so rounds fired I've had none of the problems the R-51 is prone too. I have a concern with these mis-shaped cases though.  Anyone out there experienced deformities like this?  What's the cause for this?  Two of the last 100 cases have this bulge.

the only time I ever saw cases look like that in a 9mm is when a shooter at the range mixed in a couple 380 acp cases. I also have a r-51 and I will admit it was mistake to waste my money on it.  nothing but problems. I just got the paper work to send it back to Remington for repair.. I bet they just keep it for a while and then send it back as if you get a good Remington it works and if you get unlucky it never seems to get repaired.

Not just poor chambering, it isn't chambering.  That's firing out of battery.

Bingo! I have had the exact thing happen. Caused by firing out of battery. The issue we had was having to slow down a 9mm AR. The full auto rate of fire was too fast, I actually had 9mm cases completely burst during ejection.

Thanks guys, I knew someone could diagnose the cause.  Out of battery = out of the shooting line up till I get it looked at.

Another reason why I'll steer clear of this platform. Neat looking little pistol; cool that Remington decided to rework and bring back one of their retro designs. Just read about too many issues with poor tolerances, feeding problems, recalls etc. Too bad.  :(
