Man I'd like to. Not sure where exactly to go... not sure how many are in the national forest vs private land either. I dont know anyone down there to ask permission from. Might try the road up to a campground I went to once down there... might as well!

I hunt muzzy elk around the 560-578 units so may give turkey hunting a shot while down there.  I got my turkey tags with the combo package this year so hopfully can use one.
Take one new person out hunting every year.

Most of the fall birds are on private property but you might get a couple out on public land.

I'm currently up in the Soda Springs Klickitat Wildlife area. First time turkey hunter. Not having much luck. Got into an argument this morning with a bunch of somethings responding to my slate calls but not sure what they were since Turkeys didn't show up. It sounded like a pew pew pew pew .. pew.. pew... except the "p" was more like a "j". They'd respond immediately each time I did it and each time they did it it would sound loud and fast then slow down. It definitely wasn't the "wap wap wap" I was looking for from a hen and it didn't really sound like a tom gobble. If anyone could tell me what that was I'd appreciate it.

Also if anyone living in the area has a turkey problem, I'm near by till Wednesday : )

Well done on your first go round. Most all of my success can be attributed to local info. Congratulations on your first taste of success.

Tore them up in the constant rain last weekend... my entire group all filled our tag in the rain in the area cited in OP! They were very vocal and responsive, all public hunting. no private stuff ...

Good strong raspy yelping works.  Every flock has a boss hen.  She runs the flock.  If you can sound like her you can draw the flock to you. I throw in some kee kee runs to.
