Deer Hunting and IEP land access
« on: October 11, 2020, 08:29:46 AM »
Myself and my two young boys are staying in Blanchard for Oct. 17,18,&19 for Deer. Is there any access points that are open on Blanchard Road heading West? Or any other places to get my boys a Doe? Is it worth buying a IEP permit. I'm staying at Stoneridge Resort, Blanchard and wondering if it's worth it. Thanks for your help!

There's an access point going north on top of the Blanchard Hump just west of where you're staying.  Just a few hundred yards to the west of there, another access point goes south.  Both of those open up to a lot of both IEP and State land.  Another mile or so the west is a state land access point going south (always gated though).  There's other IEP access points around that area too, but the two off Blanchard Road will get you access to most of the IEP land in that area.  The road systems in both of those patches are quite extensive.  There's also access to a lot of Timber company land (also gated), one also right on the Blanchard Hump.  The IEP permit is worth it.  Be warned, IEP can gate any/all of it's land at their discretion.  However (at least in 2016) they would allow ATV use on the roads when gated and all or most access points had ATV lanes to bypass the gates.  There was a fair amount of deer in that area but be prepared to be hunting with 100000 of your best friends from Spokane.  You can download some crude maps from the IEP website but some of the marked roads on those maps are not super accurate.  An onX chip in my GPS (or phone) was invaluable.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Thank-You very much for the info. It will help a lot. I herd that all gates are open except the Mt.Spokane area whatever that means. I hope it doesn't mean all gates.    Randy

Thank-You for your post and trying to help us. We are staying at the Stoneridge Resort for 3 nights. 16-19. I can't figure out which gates are open on Blanchard Rd. and what is closed or go somewhere else. I have hunted Colville for over 50 years and know it very well but never down here. I am 65 now and have 2 sons 15 & 18. They never got a Deer yet and they love Deer and Elk meat. We need meat! Can you please tell us where to first start scouting for opening morning. We are coming up Friday morning. We have OnXmaps. We just need to know where to go and then hunt it hard. We are from Yakima and will stop in Deer Park to get a IEP permit if we need one. Thank-You!  Randy Rosenkranz   509 480-1560

Check south of Blanchard pass, there’s some timber properties and several pieces of iep between Blanchard and mt Spokane.
