drew late Swakane deer tag
« on: June 18, 2022, 08:01:27 PM »
Finally used all those quality deer points and drew Swakane this year. Very excited to do some late season hunting. will be heading over to scout as the season approaches and hunting partner lives in Wenatchee so that's a real bonus.  I know that all those areas are a heavy migration areas and are dependent on weather. Curious if anyone else has drawn that tag and wouldn't mind sharing their observations and hunt results.  thanks.

Fun hunt!  Success can be what you make of it as I didn’t get any weather in the high country the year I drew but still had a blast looking over a number of rutting bucks.  Good luck!

I used to archer hunt a few years back in the swakane and did very well then for some reason about 5 years ago a bunch more hunters were showing up and the quality went way down.  But it sounds like u got the modern fire arm tag and as u probably know there r some huge but very smart bucks that will not let u get less then 150 yards from them.  For some reson it's like they know. Tibbits Mt will be a good spot for u because u will.most likely have most of the top to ur self with that tag.  Normally that spot is messed up because all the people but I don't think u will have that problem. I know u have ur spots but if u don't already know about it amd u want something new u should try that area.  Just drive to the top then glass all thoes drainages as there's bound to be at least one 160" in there for u.

Thanks for the info. Good stuff. Yea I'm curious to see the head count in there since it looks like its an any elk unit.  Not sure how many elk are in there that time of year. Talked to someone and they thought there were more in the entiat unit but we'll see. Going to be a good time no matter what. Have some friends lined up so there will be good times had by all no matter what.  thanks again.

We just bought 20 acres on the north side of Tibbetts. Hoping it works out well for a nice late season archery buck.

Late Sawakane archery hunt can be a mess and isn't even a shadow of the hunt it once used to be. Not that the wolves have moved in it has turned to krap. But hey any time in the woods is a good time right?
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
