I second that, NEVER buy a bow at a chain store, Pro shop is the only way to go

I 3rd that, you'll go home with a 3pin site and a whisker biscuit and wonder why you can't shoot 50 yards. Not dissin on Cabelas but you can do better in a bowshop. nwhunter

I 4th that go to a pro shop, nothing worst than going to a place like cabelas and having some nitwit put your bow together.

:yeah:  Do your Elk tag justice and get a Mathews or a Hoyt and have it set up right, you won't regret it.

I have had Hoyts now shoot a Bowtech. Brand name doesn't mean $hit. Get what feels best, shoot a few different brands.

i will get what feels best.thanks for all the advice.its funny , i would like to go with   a local shop , but in the past i would buy something ,then go back for some more gear and they are out of business.i really like helping out the little guy, but it would be nice if they were in business when i need them.

Don't know where you are from but Lucky Shot in Chehalis is good. Longview has Three Rivers Archery, they sell Diamond(Bowtech), Ross, Elite, APA, Martin. Good Guys, 360 636 2595, they can get you started.

Most of what Cabelas sells off there selves arent exactly top of the line bow and you'll be paying top of the line price.  So if you have some gift cards etc maybe it might not be a bad idea.  I'd find a local shop or buy an almost new bow off the net before I bought one from Cabelas. :twocents:
Oh ya, buy Mathews :P
