I have sympathy for both sides on this. On one hand hunting is hunting and outfitters cannot control what they can't control. On the other hand, when you pay good money for a guided hunt there is a reasonable expectation that an outfitter is providing something above and beyond what you can accomplish on your own as an average hunter.
I've got to imagine that outfitters are in a tough spot to consistently meet expectations these days with game populations, management and access all trending downward.
There are also plenty of outfitters out there who are perfectly fine taking your money and sticking you in the same spot they've been sticking guys for the last 20 years while playing the "hey we don't control the animals" card when you're not successful. Safe to say Bearpaw doesn't fall under this category.
We all know that any given area can be red hot one year and dead the next, I'd guess if Dale's guide put you in an area there was good reason for it. But that doesn't make it any easier to digest when you spend a considerable chunk of money for what might seem like minimal opportunity. In the end it's unfortunate for both parties, hopefully there was no intentional misrepresentation of what to expect and this could just be chalked up to a slow season
