Coyote pelts can be sold
« on: December 05, 2009, 05:44:00 PM »
Last I heard was that George Brady is now paying up to 30 bucks for a large male. BUT you have to leave the paws on and do not de-bone the tail, also you need to leave the head intact. Do not skin out the head. In other words they have to be taxidermy quality. I think they must be tanning them out and selling them as wall hangings.

If I was on your side,I would have all my odor hounds with decent pelts tanned..And sell later on the net or other places..I think you will do better than 30 bucks...

How much does it cost to get a pelt tanned? I'm just starting to think about coyote hunting. Is there someplace that will illistrate how to properly skin these animals?

I have sold my yotes to George for years, used to live up the hill from him.  Good guy.

George is buying good quality big yote males for $15-$20.  Medium good quality yotes for $10-$15.  He doesn't want the rest.  He prefers them in the whole.  As for the bobcats, things don't look good.  He will pay up to $150 for a top quality big male with a perfect belly (hair, color).  The cats market doesn't look good for the near future either.

30 bucks, hardly worth it, the transportation cost, gas is not cheap, the time spent skinning.  for 30 bucks, i'll give it up whole, let somebody else skin it, let 'em come get it too, till then, i'll just keep saving fawn, calves and feeding the crows.
would be nice if it was convenient to just drop off the thing whole.
