Cool and congrats!
I took a kid and his dad out in the south sound today.  We got one ling (about 6-7 lbs) and a few rockies.  We finished the day out with several silvers (20-24") and a few really nice cutts.  It was pretty good fishing until the wind picked up.  The kid was really dissapointed that we had to throw back the cutts, especially one that was pushing 3 1/2 lbs.  Lots of fun though!

Man those are some ugly looking fish. :o

Always a good day when you on the water or in the woods.   Even if you don't get anything.

I hate when they are that close to the limit and have to toss them.  Mine was just barely over.  We went out of Possession.  Hopefully heading back out in a few days.

My buddy caught this one out of possesion on his second drop.

This one came off the pier while we put our boat on the trailor.  Wasnt expecting a 29 incher from the pier.

Those look to be about 8-10 lbs each? I fish the jetty at Westport and that is what the 30 inchers weigh.

I use to love to fish off of the jetty at Westport!  We would catch a greenling, hook it about 4 feet under a surf bobber and let him do the work.  I caught a 22 lb ling out past the green bouy and had one hell of a time getting it in across the rocks.  I almost lost my Dad to those rocks hiking out one wet morning.  I havent done that in probably 10-12 years.  Is it still worth fishing?

Polar bear - NO! Not worth it.....don't do it. LOL

It can be fun. Lot's of little ones and every once in a while someone will land one around 20 lbs. They added more rock to the jetty a few years ago, but now it is a slimy mess. Very hard to walk on.

Dont worry, my rock hopping days ate the jetty are over since my back surgery.  Im not about to get a couple miles out and discover that I am "camping out" for a while.  It use to be a blast out there.  We would pack as much beer out as we could carry, fish until it was time to head to the races in Elma, turn around after the races, head back to the jetty and do it all over again the next day.  Ah, the good old days!   I'm going to try and get some South Sound lings this weekend.  I hope that I can do better than how I did last weekend.

I haven't gone much in the last couple years (been spring bear hunting and of course price of gas) but we used to do pretty good. I think the largest I got was 32 inches and about 15 lbs. though I lost a few bigger. Here are a couple pics.

My step son and our gear.

A couple around 27-28 inches.
