A Newbie question.
« on: November 12, 2010, 02:36:46 PM »
Since I don't have any friends who hunt, I thought I would ask the "experts"  I am new to the whole Big Game hunting thing and want to start next year.

That being said, if I am reading the regs right and I buy a Deer, Elk, Bear, Cougar license I am able to hunt any of the 4 and tag out on all?

So for $85 I could possibly harvest one each of all 4 animals?  If I am correct, does the Elk and Deer tag have to be together or can you do Western Elk and Eastern deer?

And if I did miss this somewhere in the regs book please let me know.

Thanks,

You are basically on the right track. All big game animals have different seasons for general and special permit as well as various restrictions. Deer is statewide, one animal on your general tag, some 2nd deer options available by special permit. Also, pic a archery, muzzy, or modern and you are locked in. Elk is the same but add a choice between east and west. Get some maps, learn some areas, and learn all the little quirks about your areas boundries and restrictions. Some seasons such as deer/bear overlap.
