Knight Long Range Hunter

It sure it pretty, isn't it?  Anyone have any idea if it can be modified for Washington?  If not I'll have to settle for the Bighorn when they're available.   I bought a TC NW explorer and it don't shoot sabots.  It's true.  I tried it.

I don't believe it can be converted.   Looks like a sweet smoke pole though.  Wish the big horn would hurry up and get out on the market.
Happiness is being in the woods!!!

UBETCHA, it can be modified to be Oregon Territory Legal, good for Idaho, Washington and the state of Oregon.  There is no reason to shoot a Big Horn when you can shoot a Knight DISC series ML.

You might take a real good look at the LRH's stock especially the fore end.  It is a heavy and bullky up there.  It is excellent for a stand or long range shooter - Not sure you would want to pack one around all day though..

Knight offers a Western Kit just for that purpose... look at Booms thread....

Hey Sabotloader,

I was just looking at the Mountaineer rifle on Knight's website.  It almost looks like it has the same mod on it that your pics showed.  Do you know anything about that?

Just my opinion... but I really would go with the Mountaineer vs. the LRH especially for hunting.

Next thing... the Mountaineer is a brand new rifle with a new bolt and breech plug... the current Western Kit may not - probably will not work in the Mountaineer.

But....  we had this discussion this evening with a friend who is communicating with Gordy Edwards.  We have or Tom actaually suggested to Gordy today that a cap ignition conversion should be made available for the Mountaineer also.

I think it could really happen...

You can not see it very well in this picture, but the barrel is fluted like the MHC in the other thread that I pointed out to you.

Yeah, the Mountaineer is a full pound lighter than the long range hunter.  At least that's what it say's on their site.

I hunt with a disc extreme in Wa. I love it!! It has the western disc conversion.

Does the Western kit work only on the disk extremes?  Knights' website doesn't mention that the kit will fit the Mountaineer or the Long Range Hunter.

I know it will work with the LRH but probably not with the Mountainer. The Mountaner uses a new bolt that does not enterchange with the LRH or Extreme, but Sabotloader has reason to believe they will make a conversion for it that will make it leagal in WA :) My advice, after speaking about this with Sabotloader, if you are thinking of a LRH or Mountainer, get the Mountainer. Or you could do like me and find a great deal on a NIB Extreme SS fluted MHC  :IBCOOL:

Yes, I want the mountaineer! With the multi-colored laminated stock and fluted barrel!

But that's alot of money to me, so I need to make sure that they offer a kit to make it legal here.  I'd love to put my TC NW explorer into 'backup/loaner' status.
