Area 10/11 Lings?
« on: May 01, 2011, 05:34:36 PM »
Drove over the bridge this morning and saw quite a few guys out. How'd everyone do? I'd bet someone out there today is a member here. Worth putting the boat in? I'll have to look ahead at the future tides and plan a day to check it out.

Cool! If this nice weather holds out I'll have to go give it a shot.

Gonna give it a whirl tomorrow. Can't fish the morning tide got the boys T-ball game in the morning but going to make it out for the afternoon low. I'm fishing dacron and plan on using a chain swivel with probably a mono leader apposed to a wire one for hooking bottom. Guys that use mono, what is a sufficient lb leader? I hear they can chomp leaders reason for using wire, but with the dacron, I really don't want to have to cut line. Also, I have some lead head jigs with grubs. Any colors work better? I hear green. Also have some fresh herring to throw on as well as an added bonus. I have the salmon fishing nailed out there but never fished for lings :chuckle: Thanks!

Think Flounder..  :dunno:

Leaders I use 150lb Mono usually. and I put surgical tubing near the hooks. as far as bottom sticks I back the boat over the snag and pull on it in the direction I was drifting from. If it does not come loose I cleat the line and keep going in that same direction...  some pretty cool things come up off the bottom that way.. :)

no boat for me. but it has been a really good season so far from the bank. so if you have a boat it will be well worth the effort  8)
