Wolf / Bear Combo
« on: June 10, 2012, 06:55:16 PM »
Had one hell of an adventure riding in the Teanaway yesterday. All this happened within a three mile stretch of trail.  Came across a day old fawn trying to hide in a small patch of grass, horse almost stepped on it.  Was able to make sure she was ok, scratched her ear and off she ran.

Shortly after we crossed paths with a wolf following a couple does and fawns.   Last but not least, I was charged head on by a big cinnamon sow.  Notice our little Jack Russell getting the hell out of the way.

We happened to ride right between her and her two cubs and boy did that piss her off.  She almost scored one for their team.  I was able to get pics of the wolf tracks and video the bear charge with my new Gopro.

Here is a still from the video clip and a pic of the wolf track.  Will try and post the video on You Tube.

Never any shortage of adventure.   However, sure is slim pickings for Elk, turkeys and deer up there. HUMMM wonder why???  :bash:

How'd the pony's do with the bear coming at them?  :yike: I have visions of myself sitting on the ground watching my horse heading over the hill if that ever happens to me...   :bash:

Our horse are "Bear Resistant" they have had several encounters and packed a few out of the mtn's so they are dialed in.  However, should she have kept coming at us it would have been every horse/man for himself I'm sure.   :yike:
