Toasted 3 arrows today at Machias Archery range
« on: June 25, 2012, 06:28:36 PM »
That's the last time I'm going off my uncalibrated eye without my rangefinder as backup!  I'm glad that I now have a good reason to justify a new set of arrows.  The range was pretty good though.  Well maintained.  I do wish they had more than one target at each distance at the flat range.  They have 2 3-D courses and I only went on the one be the trap range.  They even have a moose target!  I'd pay for a membership, but they have a 4 year wait list.

If i know the range, I can shoot pretty good.  This was my first time shooting without one, and I'm definitely in need of some new arrows.

Play the game and learn from your mistakes......leave the range finder at home.  A few times through that course and you should be able to smoke it.

Missing and breaking arrows is pretty much the same thing as using a rangefinder, except a lot more expensive.  Once I miss, I automatically know what pin I should've used.  For instance, there was a downhill shot that I guessed was 50 yards, and my arrow was just over the shoulder.  So I can use my 40 yard pin and hit the target on my second shot no problem.

Wow a 4 year wait list.  I know at my range, Cascade Rifle and Pistol new memberships are closed til they fall below the 1000 member mark.

Haha funny guy d-rock. :chuckle:

That day cost us 2 arrows too.  The wife lost one into the weeds, and I broke one off trying to get it out of the backstop.  Man, those rubber mats hold onto your arrows!  I think not puling them out of that rubber matting was a bigger motivator than not losing/breaking them!
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
