gmu 352
« on: June 25, 2012, 08:44:25 PM »
Hello, I was wondering how the deer hunting is in this unit heard it can get real crowded during modern firearm, how about muzzleloader? Just curious if anyone had any luck. Thank you in advance for helping me!! (would prefer a pm)

I wouldn't bother hunting for deer any where around Yakima, unless you just want to go for a hike with your rifle.

I muzzy 352 for deer and elk every year.  I have not been successful in the sense of filling the deer tag.  Me and my family just love the area so that's where we go (and surrounding areas).  I am considering moving on for deer though.  Tag soup is not as filling as it used to be.  :chuckle:  :chuckle:
I do not know who's to blame but the deer seemed to have disappeared after the mid 90s.

 :yeah:

I have hunted this unit for many years and the deer have all but dissapeared (compared to what it used to be).  Don't know the exact reason but they are gone.  You can still find deer there but not the caliber you use to.

I've hunted 352 my entire life and have a cabin on Nile Rd.  To be completely honest, Probably some of the worse deer hunting you can imagine. I see twice as many deer in the other 4-5 areas I hunt.  Hair slip has tragically killed the deer population in the area and two years ago, the mucks alone took nearly 150 deer out of 352. Theres also the Yakimas hunting in the area as well as normal hunting pressur. D-Rock is right though. I'm a bow hunter and the The bucks are usually rutting nice and hot in the late archery season and you see a good amount of deer, but you will anywhere when the rutt is on. To be completely honest, if I were looking for a new area to hunt, I'd go around spokane, usually get a white tail every year there. Or try any of the islands in western washington.  SHHHHHH ITS A SECRET...but there are TONS of deer on the islands. If you do hunt in 352. just dont be surprised how much rifle hiking you will do.
