Just added weight to my .308
« on: July 01, 2012, 08:08:13 PM »
Savage/Stevens .308 with a polymer frame.  Good gun.  I can shoot it fine.  The oldest boy can shoot a few shots each time just fine.  The middle son is just to skinny to shoot more than once without being bitten.  I just added 3lbs of lead to the butt of the stock and what a difference.  cut felt recoil more than half I'd say.  It shoots real nice now.  A bit more weight to carry but, trade off where I need to.  Now the middle son isn't afraid to shoot it.  I'll probably pull the weight out right before hunting season and let him think it's still in there.  He should only need one bullet.  He is beyond a dead eye.

I have known guys to hang 5 lb. weights off the front sling stud as well to stop the muzzle jump, when shooting off a bench..   They said it worked real well..
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Did the same thing to my 223 Stevens it don't kick at all like a pelet gun it never kicked at all anyways but I only really use it for bench shooting and got tired of adjusting my pos vice every time and also helps with faster shot fallow ups when coyote hunting. Your probley laughing because it's just a .223 but it really made a night and day difference on shot fallow up
work hard but hunt harder
