DAD
« on: July 09, 2012, 04:50:32 PM »
I knew time with my Dad was at a premium, and I was hoping beyond hope to get an elk and share the pictures and the story of the hunt with him, but Dad had to leave us yesterday.  At least I talked to him yesterday at noon.  He told me about a coon he had shot the night before for eating stuff in his garden, and how he was getting excited about the Pittsburgh Pirates again, then few hours later he was gone.  Love ya DAD! :'(

Very sorry for your loss.  Hopefully you can take some quality time during your elk hunting this year, and many more to come, to remember all the good memories of your Dad.  God Bless.

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks and support.  I really can't describe how much it's helping me deal with this, and to get these genuine and heart felt replies from people I don't even know says a lot for the quality of people who are on this site.  I'm really fortunate to have stumbled on to it several months ago.  Now it's time to go back East and and try to be stronger than the strongest person I now know...Mom.  Thanks again everyone.  Hope to meet some of you in September.  And don't forget it's only 55 days and a wake up!

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad.  My Dad passed away a few  years back and I've realized that I carry a piece of him with me everywhere I go.  Dads have such an influence on who we are that they are never really that far away in spirit.  As I grow older I recognize my Dad in things I say and mannerisms I display and I have to say, once again, thanks Dad for all you were.  You will miss him but he will be there in your heart and memories forever, and, you will see him in yourself as you go through your life.  I'm thankful that you had the good fortune to have him there as long as you did.
And I think God must be a cowboy at heart

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.  That is one of my biggest fears in my life is that day that I can't see my Dad, good luck and god bless.

What a way to go, got that ole raccon out of the garden, your dad sounds like the kinda guy that had some good stories. The only comfort is knowing you will be with him again some day.
Hard here right now. Praying and think of you and your family.

Once again I really appreciate everyone's support towards my family and I.  It really helped.  It still hurts, but I realize now that life goes on and so must I, so all I can do is live my life in a way that would make Dad proud; as some of you have said.  Thanks again everyone.  Now bring on the elk!

Sorry I missed this earlier. I hope you are doing ok. I lost my dad 10 years ago, and it's still hard to believe. He was my best friend, and he died in my arms. At least I was there with him to the end. He taught me to be a man, now I am attempting to do the same with my boy. Cherish his memory, and think of him often.
