Shooting from Ground Blind
« on: July 30, 2012, 04:07:06 PM »
This is my first year bow hunting and thinking about getting a Trekker T-200 ground blind. Most of the reviews are really good. They say they have shoot through mesh screens on the windows. Wondering if anyone has experience with these? keep in mind I could potentially be shooting up to 40 yards.

Does the "shoot through mesh" have a significant effect on on arrow flight?

Thanks
I hunt for peace of mind.

i never used the mesh. biggest pointer i can give you is set it up where ever you can shoot even if that means taking it to the range and practice shooting out of it. you need to know how far you can open the windows so you can see your pins and have your arrow clear the bottom of the window.
they call me the bloodhound cause i can track a wounded animal in the rain for 2 days when all it has is a splinter.. sniff sniff awooo

i shot my buck last year at 28 yards out of my douyble bull dark horse through screen, hit where i wanted. it is best to find out for yourself tho. at the range. also never have windows open on opposite sides of teh blind as the deer will see you move. keep the inside of blind as dark as you can!

Do you mean don't have them open at all or dont have the mesh down on both sides?

What he meant is don't have you self sillueted in the windows even with the screen up you have light coming through the windows.  A deer sees movement he is gone.  Best thing to do is put you blind and open the winows to your best shooting lane and keep the windows to your back close.  If a deer is looking at you and your wearing dark clothes he is going to have a very hard time seeing you.  Shot a few turkeys out of blinds.  I had hens that would feed not ten feet in front of my blind and not even pay attention to me.  Also depending on your windows and how the attach you can always peak out of the closed windows.  Good luck.
