Found some bear tracks
« on: August 03, 2012, 09:49:12 PM »
I found some bear tracks in an elk wallow while out on a hunt today. If any of you have a clue what size do you think it is.

:bash: I know i thought of that after i hiked out of there. I wear an 11.5 size shoe and those tracks were 2/3rds that length.

How wide was the front pad?

A formula to use as a rough estimate: Add 1 to 1 1/2 to the width in inches of the front foot and that will be the length of the bear skin in feet.

Examples: Add 1 to smaller bear and 1 1/2 to larger bear. For a 4" track it will be roughly a 5 foot bear. A 6" track will be roughly a 7 1/2 foot bear.
