chance for kids to catch fish
« on: August 04, 2012, 05:40:53 PM »
I'm sure most of you already know but.........if you want to take the kids fishing and GUARANTEE they catch fish, head down to Riffe lake and fish the Kosmos road bridge. Land locked silvers are packed in there right now. Kids have a short attention span when they don't catch fish. Bring them to riffe, they can't not catch fish. Their tasty too. I use over cooked (rubbery) salad shrimp on an egg hook and just enough weight to get the bait down. Hell, I ended up with my daughters barbie fishin pole and still caught fish, no problem. Good luck

How long will the fishing be good?  How big are the fish?

Its been hot for about 2 months now. We should have another month or more of good fishing. The fish are 5" to 15" (sometimes 20" + as well). Off of the bridge, you have to keep what you catch (no minimum size). The bigger ones you can cook (or smoke) how you want. I pan fry the smaller ones. My testiment for these is; my wife loves salmon but HATES trout. These are trout sized salmon. She (and my kids) LOVE them...big and small. In fact, I will be out there this weekend with the kids tryin to fill up the smoker.

the limit is 5 per person. That Taidnampam park is a full service camp ground. If you just fish, parking on Saturday and Sunday costs $5. Parking during the week is free.
