Yes It did rain and it was dry in the Dodge! :chuckle:
We drove all over and talked to lots of residents. The people in the north said most the moose are up there. We didn't see any moose but found a moose scrape ( isn't it early?) We were able to drive accrost most the roads and they were good roads. The people in the south half said most the moose in the unit were down there! HUMMmm :dunno: We finaly saw 2. A cow and a calf and got lots of pictures at about 50 yards.  If I knew how to incert a picture I would  :bash:
One thing became clear, If I get a chance to shoot a moose in that brushy country with an arrow, I won't be verry picky! There was very little open areas so I'll be walking on the old grades calling as I go.
I didn't get to check out the timber company land on the south end because I heard it's all locked up and belongs to Boisie Cascade, so I don't know what it's like. EVER BEEN IN MOUNTAIN  ALDER?  :bdid:STB

Oh yeah, One lake we drove into had cans and targets all over  >:(and swastikas painted all over on the trees and rocks. We fished there anyway. (44 close by my side). I caught 1 fish wifey cough 2...cost me a dollar!
Also we saw turkeys, coyotes, big bucks, and about a 400 lb bear.
BUT That 7 hour trip is a killer!  :bash:

When I scouted moose this time of year we never saw them either blessed.  Once Oct. 1 comes around they will be out and about.  It's hot and they are holed up in creeks and swamps and thick stuff.  Have faith...

best bet is to come over mid sept. they are in the early stages of the rut. you will see a lot more scrapes and what not on the roads. were abouts did you scout?

This time of year you wont see much moose but in the roads in early morning or late evening. once it hits mid Sept. your will start seeing the rutting activities start up if you were going to come back over I wait till a week of two before season. that's when you will see the most moose. Any time before that you will see a lot less moose just to must tag alder around these parts. as I am sure you found out makes a want to  :bash: :chuckle: good luck give me a call if you want some pointers I would be happy to help. 509-998-0268 names Brian
