I was born and raised on the west side of Madison, but at 18, I moved out to Platteville, on the west side of the state for college.  Ural environment, driftless area with no glaciation, so hunting was abundant and fly fishing was the rule.

It just seemed second nature to move out here for grad school, I became more of the rule here instead of the exception.  Back in WI there were a lot more hippies and spin fisherman then Cheney.

I know it's probably because of being in a ural town here in WA, but I feel the outdoor lifestyle is more welcomed here, and there are a lot more fly fisherman.

Of course I haven't been to seattle yet..lol

I like millwaukee a little to big for me though, tended to get lost everytime.  Madison was very liberal, too much, but the liberal atmosphere did make for great food and diversity.

Eventually I'll get back out there to do some more hunting.
That's why it's called hunting and not killing.

Can someone explain to this new resident of Washington the rational behind choosing your weapon and having to stick with. I can speculate, but a knowledgeable answer would better satisfy my curiosity. Also why the lapse in hunting time at end of oct through the beginning of November. i see elk the first through the 10th of Nov. but for deer? The rut for blacktails is approximately when? Maybe a little help so i don't have to try figure out for myself please. Would appreciate any input
