Scouting help
« on: August 10, 2012, 07:46:10 PM »
Hey guys I just got back from checking my trail camera up in the 550 (coweeman). after a week in a good spot were I saw deer last year and lots of trails I didnt have 1 bloody picture! :bash: so I did a little more walking around in the area and found ALOT of elk sign (one fallen tree was torn into pretty good, tracks, scatt, etc). So Im finding elk in the area I was in but no deer. So my question is are you guys seening the deer up in the higher elevations? I was maybe halfway up the mountain and I find it a bit odd that elk were in the area but no deer signs or pictures. It wouldent surprise me with all the heat lately, Im gunna go tomorrow and relocate my camera just thinking higher up. any help would be awsome guys.

I used a mineral block(red spot) and Buck Jam with no luck. I went back up Saturday to find a new spot to put my camera and on my way up there towards the top of the mountain, there was a freaking doe! Grrrr black tails are so frustrating! anyways I found a couple good trails I really liked for deer (lots of tracks and poo) but a bunch of people have been up in that area riding quads and dirt bikes. I'm not totally sure if they are allowed to or not but soon they wont be able too cause they keep tearing everything up!
