after finding myself in the dog house friday night due to an incident involving a bachelorette party at the bar while out celebratingmy birthday i found myself out this morning for the first time chasing coyotes. After two blank stands i connected with this little guy at 250 yards. dut to a mixture of adrenaline and the shakes i missed the first shot. he ran about 20 yards and i howled him to a stop. steadied on the sticks and squeezed the trigger WHACK i heard as the yote fliped. first one of the year down i thought. i got up left my sticks my caller and went to collect my trophy. about half way to him i watched him get up and run over a small draw. WHAT!!! i thought e just took that 100gr. sierra from black betty (my .243) and still has some go!!! i knew then i had made a horrible shot and NEEDED to end the litle guys suffering. i followed the blood trail for 50 yards before loosing it. SOB i thought i lost him. i walked around looking and found nothing. returned to where i lost the blood trail and was ready to give up but i knew he had to be out there somewhere. i began walking back towards where i had last seen him and jumped him out from under some sage. he ran about 10 yards before giving up. i had to finish him close range and was releived to have ended his suffering. what a great weekend first one of the year out of the way. made getting in trouble and sleeping on the couch a little better. all in all a great birthday weekend. sorry for being long winded i was a bit excited. headed out again tomorrow for possibly the second and maybe more.

Congrats on your first yote.  Yotes can be hardy animals at times, I have hit them with my 30.06 and do the same thing your yote did.

Ya he left the t!t for a pee break bad idea for him.
Now as far as the bachelorette party goes let's just say the wife wasn't one bit happy to see lindseys name across my chest in red lipstick and she didnt find the  X's O's And hearts as cute as the girls at the bar did.
