hornady sst jacketed and hornady great plains
« on: August 13, 2012, 05:04:35 PM »
I used to use hornady sst jacketed for my 50 cal muzzle loader however hornady is not suppling the sst in 320 gr at my local gun shop. I have had problems with the hornady sst past 70 yards. sabot would drift to the right. I tried something new this yr the hornady great plains 385 grs solid lead sabot, great groups bulls eyes at 50 and 100 yards with 100 grs of triple 7 granular very pleased both my muzzle loaders. looking forward to dropping an elk this yr with my muzzle loader. has anyone else had problems with jacketed sabots in the 50 cal cva buck horn?

I'm a little confused by this. Isn't the Great Plains bullet a full bore conical bullet? (no sabot)

What type of muzzleloader are you using?
