I have an opportunity to buy a Winchester m70 7mm short mag with cheap simmons scope less than 75 rounds fired through for $275. Good deal? Is this a good elk/bear rifle? Dont know much about this caliber. Thanks!

Good rifle. I've shot a few elk and several deer with mine and it will definitely put them down. You can always upgrade the scope if need be but it sounds like a good deal.

That cartridge has enough power to take down anything you would hunt in Washington and the ballistics are good. But if you don't reload, the ammo is expensive and can be hard to find.
