Bear Gun
« on: August 18, 2012, 07:03:49 PM »
I've stumbled onto bear while scouting with Bow Boy.

I've got a 308 and a 12 gauge that I could put a 3.5" slug in.

Either or neither for bear?

308-better range and more accurate!

Both are great bear medicine, I would opt for the .308 due to the "Extended Range" factor.

Thanks guys.  Sounds like 308 may be better bet.

Here are a few pics of what I thought might be bear scratching.  These may look old but there was a lot of fresh other sign.

Thanks Campmeat.  I just need to decide now if I want to go for it.  Getting a bear would be epic.  I definitely need to do some additional prep first.

Both are good but for different circumstances. I would use the .308 for longer range, but it looks a bit thick in there judging by your pictures. In the thick bush with low visibility, I'd have the shotgun handy.   :twocents:
