Sekui - round three!!!!!
« on: September 02, 2012, 05:48:51 PM »
Week - prior Buoy 10 - was excellent, our biggest of the trip...

Well hit Sekui again this weekend with some friends that are here from WVA....  Three days of wonderful fishing, literally 100+ Salmon to the boat in three days...  Limited every day with some smallish Silvers (8-9lbs), but some bigger hook nose starting to show...  Decided to run to LaPush one day for Sea Bass with Robodad, we limited out with 40! Back to Sekui for our Salmon limits that evening..  Blew out the impellor on my kicker, holy crap it was melted....  Slapped a new one in at Robo house and off we went for more Salmon..  Weather was absoultely perfect... Met with Tmike yesterday and this morning before we headed home to beat traffic after getting our limits early in the a.m.  Thinking of next weekend to see if we can regain the crown for the NoFin Salmon derby that we wond last year...  Too many options right now to decide where to run next????

A tip for keeping weeds from messing up your bead chains.  Take a syringe, cut off the fins on the back and thread your bead chain inside.  It will keep the weeds from messing it up.  Also a T bead above the bead chain helps as well.   :twocents:

Normally i have the tubes that go over the chains but ran out and sunbirds dont have them anymore! They were a must this weekend! My pard had his fish flash sieze up too! That Angelhair *censored* was awfull!! Then ofcourse we loose 2 big kings at the boat! Then to top the whole day off, we wernt there for the weigh in cause we didnt have any fish, well they call my dads name on a loomis rod with a shimano reel! :bash: Hopefully the fish gods are alittle nicer next weekend! :chuckle:

Great looking fish. I'm trying to talk my grandpa into a guided trip out there but he is dead set on Tillamook in the fall. It's his birthday/christmas present so I'm okay with that.

Good luck with the derby. I'll be back up there next weekend when the keep them all fishery begins.

Fishing was excellent for derby day, I'll bet we had 60+ fish to the boat and released all but 3 but none were derby winners but it was a blast !! The derby was won by #10 2oz coho for $1100. Guys were on the radio saying there was a #16+ on the board which may have made some folks not even bother bringing their fish in to be weighed, ours were in the #7-#8 range so we didn't even enter them.

Went back to Sekiu on sunday because LaPush was sketchy and filled the 18 slots on the voluntary research form the fish checker gave us to fill out and also caught several more but nothing like saturday maybe 25 fish to the boat, still kept 3 but one of them was filled with pea sized white puss pockets so it went to the crabs. It was a great weekend but no derby winner for us, caught a few natives that would have been big enough but released them unharmed !!

Going back next weekend for another round of Coho with Cohoho if we can locate a place to park my 5ver !!!  :IBCOOL:
