SUPER SMOKING! Labor day deal, Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Mag.
« on: September 03, 2012, 12:56:39 PM »
Walked into a local gunshop while a guy was working a trade deal on a rifle, one of those in the right place at the right time deals. When it was all said and done I walked away with a 9 1/2" Stainless Ruger Super Redhawk .44 mag, rings, Bushnell scope, cross shoulder holster, 2 boxes of cartridges and the dies for 380.00 total.

Quick cell phone pics

Off with that nasty scope and all cleaned up for the prom. :chuckle:

It was smoking hot after I finished with it yesterday! :chuckle: It shot the 240gr Noslers, 240gr Speers and 240gr XTP's really well, all on top of 2400. But it was spooky accurate at 75 yards with Hornady 200gr XTP's on top of 26gr of 2400 and CCI 350's, off the bags at 75 yards it touched three out of a six round group. The 300 gr Hornady XTP's were a whole different story, they were printing 6" or so higher than the 240's and the 200's. I'm going to go with the 200gr XTP's for the time being, see if I can bag a coyote with it one of these days. Plus I have 900 or so left to load.

That was an awesome find. Glad it shoots well! Did you notice the 2400 making your pistol VERY dirty? After 50 rounds of ammo using 2400 in my 357, it gets so gunked up it hardly works. Just courious if you noticed anything like that with your gun.

Yep, it's accurate stuff but puts that fine powder film all over everything. I usually shoot with Nomex gloves on at the range and it saves my hands from getting all gunked up from handguns and AR's but the handgun got a serious cleaning once it got home.
