Birds eye UV paint
« on: September 09, 2012, 07:48:04 PM »
Got the mallard paint and was pretty excited. I'm airbrushing so I had to thin down the black stuff a wee bit. I figured when it came time to do the green I would have to water it down. I didn't realize the green is actually a faint thin light blue color full of silver and green glitter. It now looks like edward used a suicide vest in my man cave. Sparkles everywhere! I also learned don't start with a dark color. Start with a medium grey or maybe a bit darker. Otherwise it'll take about 10 coats to look green enough. I used almost all of the green on one dozen decoys but it should have been enough for double that. The color is pretty cool though. I'm still painting the bodies and then the bills. I won't take pictures. They don't do the paint justice and they make my painting job even worse.

Make sure to keep some of the sparkle paint as proof lest your wife get the wrong idea about its origin...

She already saw the bionic vampire in the sun mallard heads. I really like the brown this kit comes with. May have to darken it a bit for the chest area. When it comes to bigger patches my compressor almost can't keep up. Keeps me at 80 psi in the tank but it gets annoying since it wont shut off. Anyone got any color schemes for the body? Going off of pictures from google is making me not feel good about myself.
