spike down! story added
« on: September 08, 2012, 08:11:39 AM »
Shot one yesterday.  Story to come later here's a pic to hold you over.
I was walking the ridge slowly when i heard elk coming off to my right and slightly behind me.  I see him coming all by himself through the thick stuff.  I pick a shooting lane out in front of him and guessed him to be 40yds out when he got into it.  when he got into he was facing me and I got busted he side steped enough to where i had a shot quaterd to me slightly.  as I shot he whirled to the left and my first shot hit back in the liver and came out in the guts :bash: :bash:.  I gave him an hour before I started the tracking job.  I made it about 200 yards and found him still alive in a bedding area.  I snuck in to 32 yds and found a small window and shot him again (this is the arrow sticking out of him high in the shoulder in the pic) after I shot he got up in his bed and just stood there so i let him have it again.  Then he fell over right where he stood.
