Any insight on stream/river fishing around Lewiston/Clarkston.
« on: September 17, 2012, 09:57:17 AM »
Have to head to lewiston/Clarkston for work for 2 days this week. I know there is the clearwater river down there.  Anyways, I would love to go after salmon or steelhead if I can figure a spot out.

I don't have an Idaho liscense, so would stick to the Washington side.  Can anyone lend any info who has fished the area before. Thanks!

You can drive up the heller bar road out of Asotin. It runs along the Snake river and there are a lot of good spots to pull out and bank fish.

I will be over there fishing in a few weeks.  The water temperature in the Grande Ronde will need to drop a lot and the flow will need to pick up.

stay in the snake near heller bar..I would expect alot of fish holding near the mouth of the ronde waiting for temp drops.

the flow of the Ronde will not pick up significantly  till the first snows in the high country and it melts.. or massive rains and yet that is a temporary rise.. the fish will go up without the water having to go up but the water temp is the big one..usually by mid Oct there is plenty of fish clear up to bogans
