First Fishing trip
« on: September 15, 2012, 02:31:20 PM »
Just came across this photo in my special papers.    It was the night before my first "solo" fishing trip.   A pflueger reel and baboo pole  ready for action.   Any others Post em up.   This was  37 or so years ago.

I have three major memories......Libby creek which just happened to be where they dumped a truck load of fish and I remember catching one after another after another......   an evening at an old beaver pond, and Moccasin lake for the first time.   I think Libby was my first time solo.

Share the memory!    I was lucky.  I had a mother that was really into photography.   She bought a canon AE-1 when it first came out.  One of the best cameras ever.   She got me into taking photos at a very young age.

Great picture.  I'm going to have to look and see what I can dig up.

I have pictures, but not accessable for a while a long while. I recall a picture of me and my brother in Canada ;our family went there every summer from NY for vacations. I was sitting on the dock, next to my older brother with a fishing pole; I was 3 he was 5. I don't remember catching fish, but the sight of some to the muskeys that others caught really sparked my intrest in fishing.

I'm going to have to dig out some old pics and scan them. This is a great idea!

My folks have an old video from when I was 2. We're fishing at a lake in western Oregon where my aunt and uncle lived. They both worked for ODFW and he was a taxidermist as well. So there were always odd animals around. You can hear me cackling as a 2 yr old does, constantly asking the same questions and running around a million miles an hour. The camera pans to the fishing in progress until they hear me squealing and laughing. Camera goes back to me and I'm running down the trail, just cracking up. I take a header and go out of frame, still laughing like crazy. The camera comes over and above me, and there are 4-5 baby racoons crawling all over me. It's hilarious. I don't remember it, but it happened. Coincidentally, my first memory fishing was with the same uncle, only a year or so later. Hooked for life.

They always had pet racoons, bobcats, and even a cougar visited for some time.
