I'm with ya. First time I've been thru that area was a couple of weeks ago. It looks like (and should be) a great area. Wish I had info for you, but I don't. Good luck

Why come all the way up here  :dunno: Waste of gas when there is probably bear hunting that is just as good a lot closer to you. There are bear EVERYWHERE in this state. I found a pile of bear crap at hole 6 of Gleneagle golf course  :yike:

Forget about C-Post, Scotty Rd is the new go to place!  :chuckle:

A word about the area NE of Skykomish, GATED! I used to hunt there regularly and now it's all gated. There may a couple of spot's still open but the prime area's can only be hiked into now. The very best spot that I know of is about a 7 mile hike each way. Not bad if you're in shape and up to it. If it stays warm though meat spoilage becomes an issue. The other area up there that I had always seen bears in is a 3 mile hike to the berry fields from the newest gate, with the best area an additional 3 miles in to the honey hole. And I mean a hole! :yike: I used to carry 600' of rope with me so If I took a long shot I only had to get the animal to within 600' of the truck. Then I would rig up a pulley system and use the truck to pull it up and out of the hole. Now you would have to bone and pack it out crawling up the steep hill side just to hike the 6 miles out. Again meat spoilage is the issue. If you are young, energetic and strong, have at it, I'm sure the country is all yours. Not many peeps are willing to work that hard. I would but my old achy ankles and back can't take it anymore!
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Actually, I don't hunt any of those units  Just trying to help out. It seems to me if you head east, you will be into bear a lot quicker than if you head to the sky.

I'm shooting in the dark here, i truly have no idea where to go so that seemed like a good area, everyone enjoys tips but then doesn't give back and share any of their own. i see the elder statesmen on this site share a lot, and everyone just takes, but doesn't give back unless its in the form of a kill pic. nobody will even name a GM<U, seriously we already know every GMU has a bear and yet everyone acts as if there is 3 in the state so naming the GMU will kill all hunting. well, why not tell then, if you dun kilt it then naming the gmu shouldn't even matter   :chuckle: yes im flustered because i cant even seem to find out where gates are not locked.

It is a good area. It is just that you could probably do better a lot closer to you. That's all  :dunno: And do you blame people for not wanting to give up there spots  :dunno: When someone finds a good spot, they want to keep it to themselves. They probably worked hard for it. Why would they want to just give it away to someone on the internet  :dunno:

But yoiu mentioned the Sky and the Sky is not an entire GMU. That is getting pretty specific. If you posted these GMUs, but you said that you don't need a specific spot, then don't you know where to go  :dunno: Not trying to ruffle feathers. Like I said before, just head east till you hit a forest. Bears are literally stacked everywhere in this state, especially on the westside.

Here's the deal there are bears all over highway 2 you just have to get out there and look. I have hunted up that way the last 8 years and have taken 8 bear myself and been a part of taking people out on 3 or 4 more successful hunts. I have seen 25 this year and shot my first on the high hunt last sunday. You should just take a drive up that way and start scouting the area. if a gate stops you don't be lazy and hike in! I will be honest every bear I have shot has been over a mile from the truck or farther with the exception of one. Again there are a ton of bears up there you just have to get out and find them. I am with kola on this I will not just give away my spots because I worked my ass of to find them but the woods don't belong to me and I will tell anybody there is good opportunity in gmu 448 its just hard work to find a reliable spot that pays off every year. Good luck!
