Fires
« on: September 21, 2012, 08:01:40 AM »
Got back from scouting for muzzy elk season in the Ellensburg area.  Over 80 fires in that area.  Lucky we were on the other side of I-90.
In the morning and evening in some places, the smoke was like fog.  We did see elk and one really nice fat 7x7 bull.  But there didn't seem to be the amount of elk we normally see.  The bow hunters we talked to that had been hunting the area said they hadn't seen much either.
I do have to wonder what the effects of smoke are on the elk and how they are reacting to it and how it all fits into the equation.
Maybe most of them bagged ass back into the hills away from it all... :bash:

If you love something you will set it free, if it don't come home, hunt it down and kill it.
