The rut is going to be early!
« on: September 25, 2012, 08:50:01 AM »
Just had to post this before anyone else.   :chuckle:

My wife just watched off the back deck for about 15 minutes as a spike and a 2x2 went at it.  She doesn't really have anything to base it against but she said they seemed to be going at it in more than just a "practice fight".  Said they locked up, raking antlers and banging heads pretty hard and shoved each other hard multiple times, grunting, stomping, snorting, and raking the ground with their hooves.  Said they would go hard for about a minute or 2 and take a break for a minute or 2, snorting, grunting, and circling each other then back at it they went.  She tried to get video but the woods were still pretty dark and all she had was her video camera.  Wish I was there.

I saw next years fawns on grazing on the side of the road on my way to work this morning.  I think what my wife saw was the start of next Octobers rut :chuckle:

Hey all, I am new around here.... got drawn for a big bull tag in the Dayton unit... never been east of Auburn... can someone send me GPS coordinates of the biggest bulls, and the farmers fields he is most likely to be seen in closest to the road (so I can use my mirror on the truck for a deadrest) and I can drive to the carcass and load it with help of the Mossback crew....

Oh, and this is my first post.....

I just shot a huge 180 class buck that I got pics of on trail cam last year (2012). Of course I don't have time to post a story or pics yet, but I will try later. But it really did happen.  :chuckle: :chuckle:
