just got it, i have a droid, and it will show me a state map but i cannot get it to pinpoint where in a GMU i currently am, or zoom in, and it keeps freezing and closing  anyone know what the deal is? every damn button i push in setting gives me "FORCE CLOSE"  looks like the droid version is worse then my facebook app

I ended up deleting it all together...I didnt realize it was an yearly subscription.

As far as the maps and gps and whatever else does this App work with no service? Most the places i go there is no coverage...

I don't get the freezing and closing, but it never starts GPS on my droid so it never knows my location and I can not set my location in any way.  The support people were friendly and responsive, but did not offer any solution beyond reload the app.  When that did not work they gave up.

It was a tempting idea, but not ready for prime time on my droid.  I hope it works some day.

Same here with my android phone. It seems to be useless without a data connection. When I bought it I was hoping it would be usable with just the GPS signal, but it wouldn't load anything at all with no data connection. I suspect it uses the Google maps application for the mapping data. Maybe if they add support for utilizing offline maps I might buy the update next year.

it works now after TOO MUCH FAWKING WORK but it works, but almost every time i attempt to use it, it closes on an error...

Dear Sportsman Big Game Regs User,

Many of you have written in to our Customer Support concerning the recent issues with our App.  We appreciate your comments and input.

We are experiencing compatibility challenges with Apple’s recent software release of the new IOS6, new iPads and iPhones.  We apologize for this upset especially during hunting season!

We arre burning the midnight oil to update the App for compatibility, but there are still some bugs.

The new Apple IOS6 will only support IOS 4.3 and above, including 3GS and newer devices.  If your device does not support these versions, then you should not update to the Sportsman Big Game Regs version 1.5.1 that was released on October 15, 2012.  Unfortunately, if you have uninstalled our earlier Sportsman Regs Big Game version you will not be able to reinstall the updated 1.5.1 version either.  Apple no longer supports them.

Below is a Tip Sheet for a temporary work around to enable the use of IOS 6.0 and the map crashing problem.  The purpose is to get the maps set on the animal and map that you want to use and then close the App without it crashing.  This saves those settings so the App will start with them.

1.   Close other applications from the memory of your devise (please see “How to close your applications memory” below)
2.   Select BigGameRegs App
3.   Select the “Map” tab (one of the 5 tabs at the bottom of the App)
4.   Select the “i” for configuration (upper right corner on App)
5.   Turn off the map overlays
6.   Select your animal and press “Done”
7.   Select the “i” for configuration again
8.   Turn on the overlay and select the overlay map, then select “Done”
9.   Now exit by selecting your device’s “Home” button.

The above steps will update the default settings of the App and establish your animal and overlay so that if the App crashes, then you will be able to return to your selected animal when the App starts.  If this does not work try other combinations but when you do get it to work close the App.

How to close your applications memory:

1.    Double select the device home button (the hardware button on your device), this will bring up a list of running
         applications in the background
2.    Select and hold one of the running applications at the bottom until the “X’s” appear (these will wiggle)
3.    Select the “X’s” and it will close them from memory

We recognize this is far from optimal and apologize for the inconvenience.  We are working to fix these issues.

what about fixing the issues with the older versions you have already released for androids  i have an android and my map crashed nonstop and so does it when i hit setting, or try to zoom on my map, or even switch to satellite view.
