Rain for Modern opener

Looks like some places have a chance of rain for Saturday!
I'm pretty happy about it unless it dumps.

What is every one else thinking? 

I'm beyond restless for this years Modern Deer opener. I cant sleep anymore.

Dump or drizzle ill take either i guess! Get some movement out of the deer and possible camp fires as well as not sounding like a freight train on the hike up.

I actually wouldnt mind some rain Saturday mornin too. Might get closer to a deer than normal with some rain.

A drizzle will do nothing buy make everyone grumpy there was not more.  The needles, cones and twigs will still be crunchy as hell... there will be no lifting of the burn ban.

We need a couple days of serious rain over the entire state right now.

We need to get a real good couple of daus of drizzle to loosen up the ground..All a good down pour is going to do is cause flooding..  Besides,, a couple of days of a good drizzeling rain will do better for the deer movment than a down pour..

a few non stop days of drizzle wont make the deer stay in cover and bedded down like pouring rain would. non stop drizzle will also keep everything a bit moist. 

Dumping Drizzling or 100 degrees im ready to bag a toad. or a 3x0 i really dont care.

I am not to worried.. gonna be in my spot an hour before daylight, let the sun come up on a huge open basin, let a nice, big, legal mule deer walk out, drop him in his tracks, start packing out.  Be home for a beer by 2-3 pm opening day, bloody, tired and happy.

And a good rain will get the rivers green and high bringing in lots of salmon to distract other would be deer hunters.

Did some scouting saturday and found our area sounding like a bed of eggshells, lots of noise, so Im praying with all of you for a little moisture!

I must respectfully disagree with your assessment.  A down pour would not cause flooding.  The more water the better.  We need it to rain hard for three days or more.

I doubt that any amount of rain that we might get on Friday or Saturday will be enough for them to open up the woods.  I heard that at it would take at least 1.5" to lift the ban.

Rain Friday, chance on Sat and Sunday, with rain for several days next week. We need it! Eastern WA is expected to get some of this too. Hopefully put the final dousing on a ton of fires.

I will welcome the rain, may make the access roads on the farm a bit slick in the steep areas. Guess we will just either ride a hay burner or walk in on foot to not rut up the roads. We need that rain.

It took me over 4 years to grow out of a 3 clip deer to a 1 clip deer. Browning must have their eye out for me wanting to sponsor me.

Looks like it will be pretty wet where I am headed, and I am packing in, then doing a spike camp from there...might hang out in camp with pops till monday then head out...dont want to get soaked in the backcountry...we will see...either way, im ambitious and anxious and ready to go. Rain shine, snow, sleet, wind, hippies, obama, im going....

Like another person mentioned, as much as I'd like to see them do it, I don't think the timber companies will be opening up their land.  With that, everyone will be crammed into the state land and that's a zoo I think I'll be passing on.  Going to be weird duck hunting on opening day!

It wouldn't surprise me if some of them opened, depending on how Friday goes and how the forecast for the rest of the weekend is by Friday afternoon. The forecast i just looked at said rain all day Friday starting at 8am. Looks to me like fall is finally here.

I think after Saturday, most green diamond land will open up to foot traffic, supposedly, GD/Simpson gates are going to stay closed to vehicles until November 1st.  WHICH IS AWESOME! I hope that weeds out a good percentage of "hunters"

One of the special weather statements I saw is predicting 8+ inches of rain for the weekend on the peninsula.  If you haven't been out here during a big rain right after prolonged dry spell, need to watch out for a bunch of boulders that get undercut high up on the slopes and tumble down on/across the roads.  I usually carry a big beam to pry them out of the road.

Just keep checking the tree farms web sites that will be the first place that says they are open.
I plan on having my wife check each day while I am out hunting. I WILL BE THE FIRST PERSON UP THE HILL TO MY HONEY HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hancock says they are opening before sunrise Saturday morning. I think several others will do the same with the current forecast I'm seeing

Looks like we had a bit of a soaker last night in Cle Elum area, still dark but the driveway was soaked and rain dripping off the roof when I let the dogs out this morning.

Good luck to the opening day crowd. Might help quiet the woods a bit.

Rain is the best blacktail hunting weather.  Great for the eastside as a fire deferent.
