Which powder?  Makes a lot of difference in velocity...  Bullet... is it a powerbelt and if so which one...

Suspect your 25 yard aim will hit 100 yard as rule of thumb.  Don't think you'll get a big difference in trajectory from bullet to bullet or gun to gun unless you are really light on powder or really heavy on projectile.  Out past 100 yards, would suspect larger differences.

With a wheelbarrow full of assumptions such as the only bullet I could find at 285grains is the Barnes Spitfire:

50yds = 1.9"
100yds = 1.7"
150yds = -2.9"
200yds = -12.6"

thanks guys for the info ,it is very helpful.  i shoot triple 7 120 gr. and  a 285 gr. bullet with a green plastic deal around the butt.  can i change to 100 gr of powder and still kill a deer?  my load just bruises my arm bad.  can i put a muzzle break on my muzzy?  mike w

Reasonably good chance that your accuracy will improve with a lesser charge!  :)

Lots start 'tuning' loads at 80 grains and then bump up 10 grains at a time until the group starts to worsen, often at 100-ish grains.

exa: You can drop a deer with a round ball and 60 grains! You'd just have to be fairly close to it.

I'll add that you can install a good recoil pad or drill weight into the butt to take the sting out of it also.
Some powders don't hit as hard either. Don't quote me (cuz I'm just learning too) but Goex (regular black powder) 'explodes' slower and as such pushes the shoulder rather than punching it.

Sure it isn't 295 grain bullet??? Get a better butt pad... Limbsaver has some great affordable ones... And lighten the load if need be... I shoot 130 grains of Pyrodex with 295 grain PB.... The punch isn't so bad with a good pad....

The link above should get you in the ballpark of what your trajectory would be.  But, like others said, reduce your charge.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
