Need help training my labradinger
« on: October 10, 2012, 11:45:14 AM »
I new some ideas! This last spring I was looking for a lab pup mostly for a family dog but also to try my hand at bird dog training and hunting. My dad loved his bird dogs growing up and I wanted a lab or bird dog. With a limited budget it was tough but I ended up getting a black lab springer cross, he is great! We actually got a Labradinger from the Chehalis pound. He does really well with sit, lay down, give it but is still working on leave it and stay. I want to teach him to hold, are there any tricks that would make this easier for him to learn it?

Put your hand in his mouth and give the hold command.  He'll try to spit it out, keep it there and command hold.
You use your hand so that you know he's not biting down too hard.
