I remember that I wondered about if I could hunt a lake last year. I called everyone. Googled a lot, and called some more. Between Fish and Wildlife, and the Sheriff. It was open

First, is it a private lake? If so then no.

Second, what part of the land is public? Someone may own part of the lake, but maybe not all. I forget where I went online to see property boundaries, but I did find it online. (Don't hunt on someone's land!!!)

Is it in a restricted shooting area? Call the Sheriff, and ask if it legal to discharge a shotgun in that area. Calling WDFW will do you no good.

Be safe. Know where houses are!

And have fun  :chuckle:

As with all little swamps... Know what your shooting. shoot a greebe/loon or other such birds. You better carry soap on a rope.
Your set on hunting tree hugger Island. Be prepared with all the info you need to keep yourself out of jail. Because the first shot will be met with calls to the sheriff.
That is why most don't want to deal with the headache.
I would get everything in writing before hunting anywhere. The sheriff that shows up won't have any info. But some whining bunny lover land/home owner.
Your better off hunting the "hens" ;)
But lets us know if the sheriff is called hunting anywhere else. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Got off the phone with the county.  Swantown Lake is classified as a county park (as it is owned by Island County) and the discharge of firearms in county parks is prohibited.

Are you talking about the salt marsh right on west beach? Have you tried  looking into hunting over on the seaplane base, i've always had a good turn out there.

Yes and yes, but having more than one spot is always a good idea.
