2012 modern toad
« on: October 14, 2012, 09:23:28 AM »
Well i have never been the greatest at telling stories. but i got him all guttwd out and am waiting for the crew to come help pack so I figured what the hell ill give it a shot. Last year i stumbled upon this spot just absolutely covered with big buck tracks. Jumped deer in there everyday.knew it was a hidden gem. So yesterday morning i take my uncle back in here. 7:40 we jump this buck. Doesnt provide a shot. we were bummed but didnt wanna push him to hard. We back out and hit a different spot that evening. See a two point but nothing more. This morning we head to the same spot. With a different approach. Rain had just stopped. Fog had just lifted. Then I hear the sound of branches snapping right down the clearcut. Instantly see horns. Knew it was the same buck I had seen opening day. Quartering away, downhill, 115 yards (or so) get a two second clear *censored* and he just happened to slow down. Crosshairs where they should be... Deep breathe.. squeeze the trigger.... BANG.. I lower my rifle.. down he goes. Like a sack of *censored*  :chuckle: very happy with this buck. Not bad for a non road hunting coastie weekend warrior  :P hearing all kinds of shots. Hoping this weather brings great luck to the rest of you!   Also this bad boy had no upper teeth and only a couple lower.
