Hancock ML Bull Hunt

I hope he kills one, this is one of the better tags in our state (top 5)I think, especially for a west side bull. I'm about to jump on a 5 hour flight, Hopefully when i land there will be some pictures uploaded.

This is a rather disappointing end. But hats off to him for holding out at a chance for a bull he felt was worthy of that tag

Congrats on a great hunt.  Every one of the near shooters that you pass may, as stated earlier, be a bull you would have taken a few days later.

I had the similar experience with moose in the Yukon passing 25-30 shooter bulls.  My partners guide finally told me 8 days into the 10 day hunt he had a tag in his pocket and when we were done he was going on his first moose hunt there after guiding the area for 15 years, he didn't have a moose of his own.  Said he would have shot anyone of the bulls I passed, me too if I didn't already a have a great moose on the wall and in the freezer.

I went home and he hunted three days and didn't find a bull.

Bummer for the tag holder here to go home empty, but I bet he had one of the best hunts of his life, I know mine was.

That had to be a hard way to end the hunt. Despite not pulling the trigger, it sounds like he had a great time. God knows I wouldn't have been able to hold out on the last day.

Crazy! He either doesn't like eating elk, or has a whole back yard full of them. :dunno:

Thats always a chance you take when you are looking for the big boys!!!  You can't shoot a monster if you shoot a small one! Good hunt though anyways I am sure.  To bad though.  hope you draw it another day.

saw a nice big 6 saturday afternoon on the Eatonville side that I would have been happy to hang that tag on,  if thats one that he passed on then he was really looking for a freak of nature.  Which are out there.  Went around the corner and smoked a coyote in the road.  .257 WBY will empty the brain pan like no other.  left it there as a warning to the others that they better clear out.

I was up in hancock yesterday and saw two very respectable 6by6 bulls.  Both still with cows.  Hard to believe he couldnt find one.

I believe he saw plenty of respectable bulls from all the updates that were posted on here. He chose to pass them up because it was his tag and if he didn't find the bull for him the so be it. I comend this tag holder for having the patience to hold out for what he wanted. Thanks to the OP for keeping us up to date on his friends hunt.

Ya I just found out this week that he did miss a bull on the last day.  Wasn't anything special, an average 6.

They are all special in one way or another.  Bummer he couldn't connect.  Blows me away how much elk sign is up in that area.  They could easily hand a few more tags out......
