New Pup
« on: October 20, 2012, 11:41:31 AM »
So I am looking at a lab pup, will be ready Nov 6. (7 weeks old) Question is that momma only dropped one pup so my first inclination was to turn tail and run. Anyone think this is a deal breaker? I mean I know it’s always a crapshoot as to what you end up with as far as dogs go, unless you’re a psychic or something.
Edit:
My concern is that with him being the only puppy, would not having any contact with litter mates be a problem? Is it going to increase the odds of him being a "bully", inversely being sensitive, or some other social type of behavior to fight through?

Don't believe there is a health concern here, just thinking of social type issues this might bring up if any.

It all comes down to opinion at this point, but mine is that any dog can be a good dog if you are willing to take the time to work at it. My last dog was a pup that came from a litter of two in which his brother died shortly after birth. He turned out to be a great mild mannered pup and was very loyal. He was shy when meeting dogs for the first time, but had no problems after warming up to them and was by no means a bully. But again, this was just my experience I am by no means an expert.
