I did a batch with 46oz apple juice and 50oz old fashioned cider, 6 cin sticks, 2 cup sugar and 750ml 190 everclear.  Strong and yummy.  Proof? 30?
MAGA!  Again..

I think that would be about 40 proof.

Thats perfect!  :chuckle:  Its good and strong.  It seems the old fashioned cider improves it alot rather than the regular Tree Top ciders.  More apple pie type flavor.
MAGA!  Again..

We make ours I'm pretty sure 1:2 ratio gallon 190 proof to 2 gallons apple cider, with sugar and cin stix etc. all I know is it's the best tasting buzz I have got ever lol

I did 3 liters of apple juice, 3 liters of apple cider (both generic versions and I think they were both juice) 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, a dash of vanilla extract, a dash of powdered nutmeg, a dash of powdered cloves, 3 cinnamon sticks, 750ml bottle of 190 proof everclear and then added 20ml of Fireball to each quart.  I think next time I will only add 10ml of Fireball to each quart as the ones I added it to are cinnamony beyond what I like.  It has mellowed and will probably continue to but it's pretty spicy.  I left some quarts alone and my wife likes those but they're too outright sweet for me and need a bit of the Fireball to cut the sweet.

For me, it's a buzz I haven't had in alcohol.  I liken it to a weed high.  It's a very mellow buzz where I just want to lay back on the couch and not do anything as opposed to how I feel when I drink beer or other drinks

two 5ths to 2 gallons juice?

And 130 proof?  What am I missing?  :dunno:

Total liquid = 2 gal juice + 0.4 gal Everclear = 2.4 gal total (little off with sugar and  evaporation)
Total alcohol = 0.4 gal*(1.51/2) = 0.3 gal alcohol
ABV = 0.3 / 2.4 = 12.58% or roughly 25 proof

25 proof, no wonder it was so weak  :bash:

:chuckle: It turned cold today and I was thinking the same thing. It's getting to be that time of year.

I was scrolling through trying to find what recipe I used last year that I liked. Now I can't remember if I added sugar or not, and if so, how much!  :bash:

I have not made it with sugar where I didn't think it was to sweet.  I don't use any sugar at all now and it taste great.

Wanting to make a batch for the first time....
So instead of mason jars or re-purposed liquor bottles, could apple pie moonshine be bottled & corked like wine? Would it keep better/worse/longer???

I have a large bottle of the high octane Everclear and I’m looking for a recipe to use.     I’ll re-read this thread and see what looks good.

If you are using Everclear, do yourself a favor and run it through a Brita Filter at least a dozen times and it will take al lot of the paint thinner taste out of it.   :twocents:
