Jetty fishing at West Port
« on: October 29, 2012, 11:35:07 AM »
I have been told that there is some good fishing off the jetties at WP. I have never fished there and was wondering if anyone could help. I was thinking of using clam necks or squid. Is there a better bait? Would a jig be better, What weight and is there a favorite color? Should I bounce it on the bottom or swim it back. Thanks for any help.

Anchovies under a bobber works well for me..Of course I fish from a boat, but the bobbers should work for you too..

i use a clam gun and go out by ocean cold by the coastguard place and dig there i think they call it fire cracker point. that and if you can catch fresh Anchovies they work great and if you go on the public docks you can cut off piling worms they don't like to stay on but i use that plastic wrap you buy at Walmart its like 3 buck and use 1 oz weights with a 24 to 36 inch leader with a 2/0 hook. put the weight on the swivel and put your leader on. i like to use 10 pound test but i have been fishing out there since i was young but some times i use 20 to 30 pound test.

Bring a ton of gear. Lots of hang ups in the rocks on the Bay side.. Little easier to fish the ocean side but i tend to catch more on the bay side..
Sorry about my stupid profile name. Made it when I was a high school idiot.
