I was just wondering if anyone might give me some advise about the ryderwood unit i have never hunted it and was going to go to the abernathy creek or the germany creek roads to start there any advise would be helpful, not asking for any hot spots but just wanted to konw if it would be worth trying,thanks guys

i would check and see if the gates are going to be open before you head there.

Good luck! Lots of people.
It's a fun, not all that difficult, but really long walk to get back to where the elk might be if the gates are locked.
Bike in is okay. Hunt the thick stuff. Boundaries with Stella can be confusing to some people.
Bring a GPS because there are so many roads back there that it's easy to end up on a different road that you thought you were on if you'r hiking around in the woods.

 I cruised timber in there this summer, plenty of elk.

 Most of the roads off the end of Abernathy are going to dead end on you. If you want to push off trail this may be good, but Germany Creek will give you more access to alot more area.

you may want to try and acess the unit north of vader im sure the gates will be open expect alot of company.  hit the timber. alot of people road hunt. all the road traffic will push most of the animals into the timber after the first two days. i know the ryderwood unit well! good luck be safe
